Pedilean
Pedilean
is a
weight loss pill
manufactured
exclusively for kids. It's sold and
manufactured by Klein-Becker, a company that used to price
its products outrageously.
Some of
the advertising material for Pedilean says that if you’re
the parent or grandparent of one of the more than 11 million
obese or overweight school-aged kids in the USA, you know
the embarrassment and pain this growing "Epidemic" can
cause.
Now, new
hope is offered by a revolutionary, all-natural
weight-control compound. It’s called PediLean: the only and
first clinically effective, safe and proven weight-control
ingredient designed for children and adolescent. An American
company, Klein-Becker has finally made the product
available.
Only one
problem exists in fact. Pedilean has not been effective and
is not clinically proven.
In fact,
Klein-Becker was one of 6 companies recently forced by the
U.S. Federal Trade Commission to pay $3 million for making
false and unsubstantiated claims about its products, one of
which just happens to be PediLean, other fat burners include
the weight loss pills anorex and Leptoprin.
You can
read the FTC press released.
Considering this,
let's review the miracle ingredients in Pedilean that is
supposed to work so fast and .On the bottle, Pedilean is
named as Pediatropin™: Proteinophallus Rivieri/Araceae
(tuber) extract. Let's call it glucomannan, which is the
active ingredient.
It is
claimed that Pedilean sells for about $70 a bottle, which is
absolutely outrageous, because it's priced about three times
over what PediLean should be but that's not unusual for
Klein-Becker.
Glucomannan is a fiber
supplement that does show some promise. It seems to reduce
serum cholesterol and blood glucose levels in individuals
with Type II diabetes; it also seems to improve the syndrome
of insulin resistance.
One study
showed almost 6 pounds of fat lost in two months - with no
changes in eating habits, it also that 1 gram of
glucomannan, taken with 8 oz. of water one hour prior to
meals, has a significant influence on weight
loss.
That's a
far cry from saying that glucomannan is some sort of miracle
weight loss product for children. There's no way to say that
glucomannan will have the same effect on children.
Scientific studies and research are required before
concluding on this.
In fact,
most people would be far better off adding fiber to their
children's diet from legumes,grains,vegetables and
fruits.
Average
North American consumes 15 grams of fiber daily -- 10 grams
less than the minimum recommended amount of 25 mg. It's a
clear fact that the North American diet is a low quality one
and doesn't have enough fiber.
It is
suggested by Nancy Howarth, a specialist in nutrition from
Tuft's University in Boston, that people who take 14 grams
of fiber per day will probably reduce their nutritional
intake by 10% in 4 months and lose about 4
pounds.
It's
relatively healthy, inexpensive and you will get dreat
benefits in the long term to get your child to up his or her
fiber intake.
